In August the temps can get very cold at night on the boat pack a hoodie and sweatpants to pull over your shorts. Also if you’ve never been on a boat pack closed bottle drinks and wear shoes that don’t leave marks on the deck. Snacks that don’t make a mess when eating. Be respectful of the boat. If you don’t know ask the Captain before booking and let them know the dates you have available incase of bad weather.

Day On The Bay Charters
If the wind is blowing out of the N or NE there will be parts of the main bay that cannot be fished. We were hoping to fish for bull redfish but wind did not allow that to happen. We had fun catching rockfish instead.

Fish Taxi – Light Tackle Fishing
Solomons was a lovely place to visit — easy to navigate, not crowded, and full of genuinely friendly people. There was a nice variety of restaurants, and all the fishing boats seemed to be catching fish. A relaxing and enjoyable spot for a day trip or weekend getaway.

Sick Day Sportfishing
I recommend trying a few different charters starting with the party boat charters then go to the private charters. Try a few different charters out until you find one you like and will want to go back to.

Awesome experience. 100 percent recommend this company. We caught several different fish and had a blast doing it! The captain and his mate were awesome and were willing to help us make many memories on our ocean fishing trip. So go ahead and book them and let the fun adventures happen!

It was hotter than Hades while we were out there but we still had a great time! I don’t think there’s really a bad time to go fishing. It’s the whole experience that matters.

Bring non drowsy Dramamine and ginger ale- even though our captain was well prepared and had cold ginger ale on hand when my daughter got a little motion sickness. Really helped her and she was able to continue fishing.

Book with Captain Kane. If you want to really get out and catch different species go for a full day, if you just want to target 1 or 2 types a half day is good too!

Find an experienced captain (and crew if included) that’s highly experienced. Always keep expectations low because we’ve done several excursions in the Carolina’s and Florida where we might catch fish, sometimes nothing at all and rarely fish that are legal and can be taken home.
